Description

CONSULTFEE indicates whether the facility charges clients fees in order to be seen by a provider. The interviewers were instructed that this includes any fees, including for registration or consultation. Users may also be interested in a related variable, FPFEES, which indicates whether the facility has any routine user fees or charges for services relating to family planning, in particular.

The question associated with this variable was included in the service delivery point questionnaire.

Comparability

For service delivery point nutrition samples, the question associated with this variable refers to fees charged to all clients, including those not seeking medication or treatment.

For all other service delivery point samples, the question refers to fees including those for registration, consultation, and all other family planning services; it further specifies that these may include fees charged to everyone who is seen at the facility, or may be specific to family planning clients.
