Description

STERCHECK indicates whether the woman had been sterilized. This variable does not represent all the women in the sample that have been sterilized. STERCHECK is a probe to identify women who did not already report female sterilization when asked if they currently used a method of family planning.

There are no comparability problems.

  • Women aged 15-49 who are not pregnant or using a family planning method, or did not report being sterilized.
