Description
For Round 2 samples of the female-child nutrition survey, ELIGIBLEFEM reports whether the respondent is a woman aged 10-49 who may be eligible for the female portion of the nutrition questionnaire. Together with FQSELECTED, this variable was used to identify eligible women from a random sub-sample of households that were then selected for the female portion of the nutrition questionnaire (see ELIGIBLESEL). This selection procedure differed between samples; see Comparability tab for additional details.
Users should note that this variable is not available for Round 1 samples, which have different criteria for individual eligibility (see ELIGTYPE for details).
Users should also be careful to distinguish this variable from ELIGIBLEHHFEM which indicates whether the individual lives in a household that includes a woman aged 10-49.
Comparability
In the Kenya 2018 sample, eligibility for the female portion of the nutrition questionnaire was determined prior to random selection (see FQSELECTED). As a result, eligibility for women in this sample is defined without respect to selection: all women aged 10-49 are eligible whether or not they were ultimately selected to receive the female nutrition questionnaire.
In the Burkina Faso 2018 sample, eligibility for the female portion of the nutrition questionnaire was determined after random selection had already occurred (see FQSELECTED). As a result, eligibility for women in this sample is more narrowly defined: only those women aged 10-49 whose households were pre-selected to receive the female nutrition questionnaire are eligible.
