This variable is an 18-digit variable with decimal points except the following codes:
95 = Not interviewed (female questionnaire)
99 = NIU (not in universe)
Description
ABORWEIGHT in a normalized inverse probability weight that controls for attrition prior to the follow-up survey for female respondents interviewed in 2018 who had agreed to be contacted again.
The original variable name for ABORWEIGHT in the public use files was FU_FQweight. The description from the PMA User Notes about this weight variable are as follows:
"The weight of the female abortion follow-up survey. The FU_FQweights were
normalized, with a mean of 1. Women who reported an abortion and were successfully
followed up in the Round 2 Abortion Follow-up were given a weight that was the FQweight
from Round 2 multiplied by the inverse probability of participating in the Follow-up survey.
To generate the second of these two weights, we modeled the probability of an eligible
respondent being interviewed in the Round 2 Follow-up accounting for age (5-year age
groups), education (none, primary, secondary, and tertiary), marital status (currently
married/in-union, not married), wealth (5 quintiles), and residence (urban, rural)."
Comparability
There are sampling differences among samples. In Ethiopia 2020, interviewers attempted to survey women who consented to be interviewed again after the 2018 female interview. In Cote d'Ivoire 2020 and Nigeria 2019, interviewers attempted to survey women who reported ever having removed a pregnancy or regulated a period in the 2018 female interview.
