ABORYR_FRND1 indicates the year when the woman's closest friend last aborted a pregnancy.
Enumerators were instructed to enter either 2020 or 2030 (in later surveys) if the respondent did not give a response to the associated survey question. IPUMS has recoded these cases to "No response or missing."
