This is a 3-digit variable that represents the time (in days, weeks, months, or years) after birth the woman stopped breastfeeding her last child, except for the following codes:
995 = Not interviewed (female questionnaire)
996 = Not interviewed (household questionnaire)
999 = NIU (not in universe)
BFENDVAL, together with BFEND, reports how long after birth the woman stopped breastfeeding her last child.
Note that the codes in this variable are not reported in a specific unit of time i.e., days, weeks, months, or years. Rather, the unit of time in which the woman responded is reported in BFEND. Users must use both BFENDVAL and BFEND to determine the amount of time after birth the woman stopped breastfeeding her last child.
The question associated with this variable was included in the female questionnaire.
- Women aged 15-49 who ever breastfed their last child, are not currently breastfeeding that child, and the child is still alive.
