Description

CAREHIV indicates whether HIV testing or treatment was the reason for the woman's most recent visit to a local health facility for herself or her family member.

This question is included as part of the Primary Health Care module, which is included in certain female questionnaires. These questions pertain to the woman's attitudes towards and utilization of health care services.

Comparability

In the Ghana 2016 Round 5 sample, this variable has a universe of "women aged 15-49 who have visited a health facility for herself or her child in the past 6 months", but it is clear from other questions in the survey that some women also responded that they had visited a facility within the last 6 months for people other than herself or her child.
