Description
For Round 2 samples of the female-child nutrition survey, ELIGIBLESEL reports whether the individual was both eligible and selected to receive the female-child nutrition questionnaire. Selection occurred in one of two ways:
2) Households were selected at random from the household questionnaire. Any woman aged 10-49 living in one of these households was then selected for the female portion of the nutrition questionnaire. Random selection procedures differed between samples; see the Comparability tab for details.
This variable is not available for Round 1 samples, which have different criteria for individual eligibility (see ELIGTYPE for details).
Comparability
In the Kenya 2018 sample, eligibility for the female nutrition portion of the questionnaire (see ELIGIBLEFEM) was determined prior to random selection (see FQSELECTED). As a result, only a subset of eligible women shown in ELIGIBLEFEM were also selected by FQSELECTED to receive the female nutrition questionnaire. Selection occurred if the woman lived one of a random 25% of households surveyed by the household questionnaire.
In the Burkina Faso 2018 sample, eligibility for the female nutrition portion of the questionnaire (see ELIGIBLEFEM) was determined after random selection had already occurred (see FQSELECTED). As a result, there are no cases where an eligible woman shown in ELIGBLEFEM was not also selected by FQSELECTED to receive the female nutrition questionnaire. Selection occurred if the woman lived one of a random 45% of households surveyed by the household questionnaire.
Users should note that, in both samples, all children under age 5 were selected automatically, regardless of whether they lived in one of the households randomly selected for the female nutrition portion of the questionnaire.
