Description

ETHNICITYCI reports the ethnicity of the heads of the household, as reported by the respondent of the household questionnaire, for the Cote d'Ivoire samples. Users should note that the respondent for the household questionnaire was not necessarily the household head.

Comparability

The household respondent reports the ethnicity of the household head, but the records of all members of the household are assigned the ethnicity of the household head.

Comparability with IPUMS-DHS

ETHNICITYCI in IPUMS-PMA is similar to the variable ETHNCITYCI98 in IPUMS-DHS. Codes have been harmonized between these two variables to the greatest extent possible. There may be differences in questionnaire text, number of response categories, or the variable's universe; see the Survey Text and Universe Tab of the IPUMS-DHS variable for more information.
