FCQINSTID
Unique ID for female-child nutrition questionnaire respondent

Codes

This is a 42-character string variable.

Description

FCQINSTID is a constructed variable that uniquely identifies each respondent to the female-child nutrition questionnaire. See Comparability tab for information regarding respondents answering on behalf of children under age 5.

If a woman was interviewed in multiple rounds of PMA, FCQINSTID cannot be used to link the same woman between samples because a new value for FCQINSTID is generated for each "instance" of an interview.

Comparability

In round 1 samples (2017), the respondent answering on behalf of children under age 5 is the woman in the household aged 10-49 who is either their biological mother or their primary caretaker, and whose responses to the female nutrition portion of the questionnaire are provided on a separate record. For round 1 samples only, the same FCQINSTID will appear on a female respondent's record and on the records for all of her children included in the sample.

In round 2 samples (2018), the respondent answering on behalf of children under age 5 is their biological mother, provided that she lives in the household; otherwise, the respondent is the child’s primary caregiver regardless of the caregiver’s gender and age (see RELATEKID). This respondent may have provided responses to the female nutrition portion of the questionnaire, but only if they are a woman aged 10-49 and live in one of the households randomly selected for the female nutrition portion of the questionnaire (see ELIGIBLESEL). Because the female and child interviews occurred separately in round 2 samples, the FCQINSTID that appears on a mother's record will be different from the FCQINSTID that appears on the records for her children, even if she served as their respondent to the child questionnaire.
