Description

For women aged 15-19 who have ever had sexual intercourse, FIRSTDECIDE indicates how much the woman was involved in the decision to have sex the first time that she had sexual intercourse. The woman was asked to choose between "very much", "not very much", or "not at all".

The question associated with this variable was included in the female questionnaire.

Comparability

For 2019 samples, the question associated with this variable was asked of women aged 15-19 who had ever had sexual intercourse.

For the India 2018 sample, the question associated with this variable was asked of women aged 15-19 who had ever had sexual intercourse and were currently married or living with a male partner.
