Description
For women who are not currently pregnant but have ever given birth, FPLCHDESIRE reports whether their last born child was wanted at the time they got pregnant, was wanted but at a later time, or was not wanted at all.
Users may also be interested in PGDESIRE. For women who are currently pregnant, this variable indicates whether their pregnancy was wanted at the time they got pregnant, was wanted but at a later time, or was not wanted at all.
The question associated with this variable was included in the female questionnaire and the maternal and newborn health baseline survey.
Comparability
Some samples refer to the woman's "last birth", while others refer to her "last live birth". See the Questionnaire text tab for details.
