Description

GEOETDET reports the region of Ethiopia in which the respondent was located, using the categories for 2021 PMA samples and onward.

Comparability

Sidama region was created from Southern Nations Nationality and People Region (SNPPR) in 2020. In 2021, Southwest Ethiopia People's Region was created and in 2023, SNNPR was dissolved to create South Ethiopia Regional State and the Central Ethiopia Regional State. GEOETDET combines South Ethiopia, Southwest Ethiopia People's Region, and Central Ethiopia.

Consistent boundaries over time are preserved in the GEOET variable.
