Description

HLTHFACTOR reports the most important factor for the woman in deciding where to seek health care services. Women were only asked to report the most important factor if they reported more than one factor in deciding where to seek health care services. Note that the questionnaire specifies that the woman has to choose among the options she provided earlier.

This question is included as part of the Primary Health Care module, which is included in certain female questionnaires. These questions pertain to the woman's attitudes towards and utilization of health care services.

Comparability

In the Ghana 2016 Round 5 sample, this variable has a universe of "women aged 15-49 who have visited a health facility for herself or her child in the past 6 months and have selected more than one factor that influenced her decision about where to seek health services", but it is clear from other questions in the survey that some women also responded that they had visited a facility within the last 6 months for people other than herself or her child.
