Description
HWCSOAP indicates whether soap is observed in households that have movable containers for hand washing instead of having a fixed place to wash hands.
The question associated with this variable was included in the household questionnaire.
Comparability
There are no comparability issues.
Comparability with IPUMS-DHS
HWCSOAP in IPUMS-PMA is similar to the variable HWSOAP in IPUMS-DHS. However, note that HWSOAP does not distinguish between households with a fixed place for hand washing and households with movable containers for hand washing, while HWCSOAP does make this distinction. There may be differences in questionnaire text or the variable's universe; see the Survey Text and Universe Tab of the IPUMS-DHS variable for more information.
