Description
HWCWATERTAP indicates whether running water (tap water) is observed by the enumerator in households with movable containers for hand washing rather than a fixed place to wash hands.
The question associated with this variable was included in the household questionnaire.
Comparability
There are no comparability issues.
Comparability with IPUMS-DHS
HWCWATERTAP in IPUMS-PMA is similar to the variable HWWATERTAP in IPUMS-DHS. However, note that HWWATERTAP does not distinguish between households with a fixed place for hand washing and households with movable containers for hand washing, while HWCWATERTAP does make this distinction. There may be differences in questionnaire text or the variable's universe; see the Survey Text and Universe Tab of the IPUMS-DHS variable for more information.
