Description
HWSOAP indicates whether soap is observed by the enumerator in households with a fixed place for hand washing.

Comparability with IPUMS-DHS
HWSOAP in IPUMS-PMA is similar to the variable HWSOAP in IPUMS-DHS. However, note that HWSOAP does not distinguish between households with a fixed place for hand washing and households with movable containers for hand washing, while HWSOAP does make this distinction. There may be differences in questionnaire text or the variable's universe; see the Survey Text and Universe Tab of the IPUMS-DHS variable for more information.
