Description
HWSOAP indicates whether soap is observed by the enumerator in households with a fixed place for hand washing.
The question associated with this variable was included in the household questionnaire.
Comparability
Apart from slight universe differences, there are no comparability issues.
Comparability with IPUMS-DHS
HWSOAP in IPUMS-PMA is similar to the variable HWSOAP in IPUMS-DHS. However, note that HWSOAP does not distinguish between households with a fixed place for hand washing and households with movable containers for hand washing, while HWSOAP does make this distinction.
