Description
LASTUR reports the urban/rural status of the area where the woman lived in prior to the current region in which she lives.
The question associated with this variable was included in the female questionnaire.
Comparability
In the Ethiopia 2016 Round 4 sample, respondents could report her previous residence as being a city, a town, or rural. In the Ethiopia 2017 Round 5 sample, respondents could only choose between rural or a city.
Comparability with IPUMS-DHS
LASTUR in IPUMS-PMA is similar to the variable PREVRESTYP in IPUMS-DHS, though LASTUR has less detail. Slight variation in question wording and universes between the two variables may affect comparability; see the Survey Text and Universe Tab of the IPUMS-DHS variable for more information.

- Ethiopia 2016 Round 4 Female and Household: Women aged 15-49 who had not always lived in the region in which they currently reside.
- Ethiopia 2017 Round 5 Female and Household: Women aged 15-49 who had not always lived in the region in which they currently reside.
- Ethiopia 2018 Round 6 Female and Household: Women aged 15-49 who had not always lived in the region in which they currently reside.
- Ethiopia 2019 PMAET Female and Household: Women aged 15-49 who had not always lived in the region in which they currently reside and were not a visitor.
