Description

SONSHOME _GH reports the number of sons who are living in the same household as the respondent.
This variable is consistently coded across the IPUMS Global Health projects from the project specific variables:

IPUMS DHS: SONSATHOME
IPUMS MICS: HOMESON
IPUMS PMA: SONSATHOME

Found on the Women unit of analysis (IPUMS MICS and IPUMS DHS) and the Family Planning-Person unit of analysis (IPUMS PMA).

Comparability

To create a common universe across the three projects, additional categories were created:

90 Women who never had a birth
91 Women who do not have a child a home at the time of survey
