Description

ETHNICITYGH reports the ethnicity of the heads of the household, as reported by the respondent of the household questionnaire, for the Ghana samples. Users should note that the respondent for the household questionnaire was not necessarily the household head.

Comparability

Only the record of the household head contains information about the household head's caste. All other household members are not in universe for this variable.

Comparability with IPUMS-DHS

ETHNICITYGH in IPUMS-PMA is similar to the variable ETHNCITYGH in IPUMS-DHS. Codes have been harmonized between these two variables to the greatest extent possible. There may be differences in questionnaire text or the variable's universe; see the Survey Text and Universe Tab of the IPUMS-DHS variable for more information.
