Comparability
For a small number of cases in some samples, there are households who reported that their toilet facility is shared between at least one, but fewer than 10 households in the variable PIPESEWERSHAREYN, but, then report that the toilet facility is shared with 10 households in the variable PIPESEWERSHARENUM. This is most likely due to differences in enumerator interpretation of instructions.
Comparability — Ethiopia [top]
This question was introduced in the 2014 household questionnaire in Ethiopia. For the first survey round that this question was asked, the question text did not include the clarification that the respondent should include his or her own household in the count. This led to some households potentially reporting "1" if they share the toilet facility with one other household, because he or she did not include their own household in the count for their response. For later rounds, this question was clarified to include the instruction "including your own," resulting in all responses being two or greater.
