Description

FPLASTMO reports the calendar month when the respondent last obtained her most recent family planning method.

Note that January consistently has the highest frequency across samples. Due to the data entry format of the survey, if a respondent reported a year but not a month for when she stopped using her most recent family planning method, January was the default month for FPLASTMO.

The question associated with this variable was included in the female questionnaire.

Comparability

There are no comparability issues.

Comparability with IPUMS-DHS

FPLASTMO in IPUMS-PMA is similar to the variable FPCURSTMO in IPUMS-DHS, with the latter limited to women currently using contraception. There may be other differences in questionnaire text or the variable's universe; please see the Survey Text and Universe Tab of the IPUMS-DHS variable for more information.
