Description

BFSTARTVAL, together with BFSTART, reports how long after birth the woman started breastfeeding her last child.

Note that the codes in this variable are not reported in a specific unit of time i.e., hours or days. Rather, the unit of time in which the woman responded is reported in BFSTART. Users must use both BFSTARTVAL and BFSTART to determine the amount of time after birth the woman started breastfeeding her last child.
