EASERVED variables are all 5-digit numeric variables that represent an identifier for an enumeration area, except for the following codes:

99994 = Not interviewed (SDP questionnaire)
99998 = No response or missing
99999 = NIU (not in universe)

Description

EASERVED provides a series of up to 42 variables that represent the geographic enumeration areas served by the service delivery point (SDP). Service delivery points can serve more than one enumeration area. Additional areas served by the service delivery point (if any) are recorded in EASERVED2, EASERVED3, etc. The information in EASERVED is available only for public service delivery points and is based on reports from the local or national government. Note that the EASERVED variables may also contain the code for the EA the SDP is located in.

Due to privacy concerns, the borders of enumeration areas are not publicly available. The enumeration area is specified via an assigned number rather than a recognized name for a locale. The codes for EASERVED variables series identify the same areas as the corresponding codes in EAID (Enumeration area) in the data from household, female, and service delivery point surveys. The numbering of EAIDs is consistent across survey rounds for a country. Codes are also unique among countries.
