Description
FERTPREFNPREG indicates whether or not the woman wanted to have a child (or another child) in the future. This variable contains responses for women who are not pregnant. A similar question was posed to women who were currently pregnant (FERTPREFPREG).
Users should note that there are a small number of cases of women in the universe for FERTPREFNPREG who are currently pregnant. It is not documented whether or not these cases are valid responses that should have been assigned to FERTPREFPREG.

Comparability
There are no comparability issues.
Comparability with IPUMS-DHS
FERTPREFNPREG in IPUMS-PMA is similar to the variable FERTPREF in IPUMS-DHS, although FERTPREF in IPUMS-DHS does not restrict the universe to women who are not pregnant and sometimes includes additional response detail (e.g., distinguishing between "sterilized" and "declared infecund").
