Description

FPLASTPROVIDER reports the provider from which the woman obtained her last family planning method.

FPLASTPROVIDER uses the same coding scheme as the variable FPPROVIDER, which reports the first source of the woman's current or recent family planning method. This coding scheme uses the first digit to divide providers into the broad categories of "public sector," "private sector," and "other," while additional digits preserve detail.

The question associated with this variable was included in the female questionnaire.

There are no comparability issues.

Comparability with IPUMS-DHS

FPLASTPROVIDER in IPUMS-PMA is somewhat similar to the variable FPLASTSRCS in IPUMS-DHS. The IPUMS-DHS variable uses fewer standardized response categories and relates to current users of modern contraceptive methods only. There may be other differences in questionnaire text or the variable's universe; please see the Survey Text and Universe Tab of the IPUMS-DHS variable for more information.

Women aged 15-49 who are currently using a contraceptive method or have used a contraceptive method in the past 12 months and last obtained their current or recent method within the past 12 months.
