FPPLANYRVAL
When will start using FP method within 1 yr of birth- value

This is a 2-digit variable that represents the amount of time that the woman thinks she will wait before beginning to use a family planning method, except for the following codes.

95 = Not interviewed (female questionnaire)
96 = Not interviewed (household questionnaire)
99 = NIU (not in universe)

Description

For women who are currently pregnant and plan to use a family planning method other than breastfeeding within one year of giving birth, FPPLANYRVAL reports when the woman thinks she will begin using the method.

Note that the codes in this variable are not reported in a specific unit of time i.e., weeks or months. Rather, the unit of time in which the woman responded is reported in FPPLANYRWHEN. For women who reported they would wait weeks or months, users must use both FPPLANYRVAL and FPPLANYRWHEN to determine the exact amount of time that the woman thinks she will wait before beginning to use a family planning method.

Women who reported that they would begin using a method "immediately (at facility)," "at first postpartum visit," or "not sure yet" were not asked to report a value, and so are excluded from the universe of FPPLANYRVAL.

The question associated with this variable was included in the female questionnaire.
