Description

FPSTOPMO reports the calendar month when the respondent stopped using her most recent family planning method. The instructions in the female questionnaire specify that the date given must be after the date given in FPBEGINUSEMO and FPBEGINUSEYR.

Note that for many samples, January has the highest recorded frequency. Due to the data entry format of some surveys, if a respondent reported a year but not a month for when she stopped using her most recent family planning method, January was the default month for FPSTOPMO. See the Questionnaire tab for more information.

The question associated with this variable was included in the female questionnaire.

Comparability

The Democratic Republic of the Congo 2013 sample has a different universe than other samples. See the Universe tab for more detail.

Beginning with longitudinal family planning samples in 2019, this variable was calculated using the contraceptive calendar rather than collected through a survey question.
