Description
For women who reported having health insurance through the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), INSCARDNHIS indicates whether they have a valid NHIS card, and if so, whether their card was seen by the interviewer.
NHIS is a universal health insurance program introduced in 2003 in Ghana with the aim of providing equitable access and financial coverage for basic health care services to all residents of Ghana.
The question associated with this variable was included in the female questionnaire.
Comparability
Apart from how this variable was constructed for some samples, there are no comparability issues. For the Ghana Round 2, 3, and 4 samples, this variable is constructed based on the woman's response to INSCARDREP and INSCARDSEEN.
Universe
- Women age 15-49 who reported having National/District Health Insurance (NHIS).
