This is a 3-digit variable that represents the number of years continuously lived in a residence, except for the following codes:
900 = Logical edit - missing
995 = Not interviewed (female questionnaire)
996 = Not interviewed (household questionnaire)
998 = No response
999 = NIU (not in universe)
Description
LIVEINREGIONYRS reports the number of years the woman has been continuously living in her current region or district of residence if she has lived there more than a year.
Users may also be interested in the related variables LIVEINREGION and LIVEINDISTRICT, which reports how long the woman has been living in her current region or district of residence, respectively.
Enumerators were instructed to code "Don't know" cases as -88. However, this variable contains unexpected values of 88. Given that the survey was limited to women age 15-49, we believe these cases were intended to represent "don't know" rather than a number of years. IPUMS has recoded these cases to "Logical edit - missing."
