Description

For women who have sought care for herself or her child at a health facility in the past 6 months, RATEUNDERSTAND1 reports the provider's ability to explain things in an understandable manner during the woman's most recent visit.

Samples containing RATEUNDERSTAND1 prompt women to rate understandability on a 4-point scale with options ranging from "very difficult" to "very easy". Other samples contain a similar variable, RATEUNDERSTAND2, which prompts women to rate understandability on a 5-point scale ranging from "poor" to "excellent".

This question is included as part of the Primary Health Care module, which is included in certain female questionnaires. These questions pertain to the woman's attitudes towards and utilization of health care services.
