For women who have sought care for herself or a family member at a health facility in the past 6 months, RATEUNDERSTAND2 reports the provider's ability to explain things in an understandable manner during the woman's most recent visit.

Samples containing RATEUNDERSTAND2 prompt women to rate understandability on a 5-point scale with options ranging from "poor" to "excellent". Other samples contain a similar variable, RATEUNDERSTAND1, which prompts women to rate understandability on a 4-point scale ranging from "very difficult" to "very easy".

This question is included as part of the Primary Health Care module, which is included in certain female questionnaires. These questions pertain to the woman's attitudes towards and utilization of health care services.
