TIMESINCESEX, together with TIMESINCESEXVAL, reports how long ago the woman last had sexual intercourse.
Users should note that this variable reports only a specific unit of time i.e., days, weeks, months, or years, not the actual duration of the interval. The specific number of months or years is reported in TIMESINCESEXVAL. Users must use both TIMESINCESEX and TIMESINCESEXVAL to determine the exact amount of time since the woman last had sex.

There are no comparability issues.
Comparability with IPUMS-DHS
TIMESINCESEX, together with TIMESINCESEXVAL, can be used to create a variable similar to TIMESINCESEX in IPUMS-DHS. There may be differences in questionnaire text or the variable's universe; see the Survey Text and Universe Tab of the IPUMS-DHS variable for more information.
