This is a 5-digit variable that represents how long ago (in days, weeks, months, or years) the woman last had sexual intercourse, except for the following codes:

90000 = Logical edit - missing
99995 = Not interviewed (female questionnaire)
99996 = Not interviewed (household questionnaire)
99997 = Don't know
99998 = No response or missing
99999 = NIU (not in universe)

Description

TIMESINCESEXVAL, together with TIMESINCESEX, reports how long ago the woman last had sexual intercourse.

Note that the codes in this variable are not reported in a specific unit of time i.e., days, weeks, months, or years. Rather, the unit of time in which the woman responded is reported in TIMESINCESEX. Users must use both TIMESINCESEXVAL and TIMESINCESEX to determine the exact amount of time since the woman last had sex.

The question associated with this variable was included in the female questionnaire. For maternal and newborn health samples, this question was included in the female baseline survey.
