Description

FACILITYTYPEGEN reports the type of facility of the interviewed service delivery point in nine general categories. A related variable (FACILITYTYPE) also reports the facility type, and retains all details from country-specific response categories.

Comparability

For service delivery point questionnaires, the universe for this variable is "All service delivery points." For female client exit interview questionnaires, the universe for this variable is "Women aged 15-49."

There are inherent comparability issues due to differences among countries' distinct health care systems. The categories have been harmonized according to their labels (ie, hospital, health center, etc.) and not according to actual comparability among facilities or health systems in different countries.
