Description
PGRECDESIRE reports whether, at the time the woman became pregnant with her most recent pregnancy, she had wanted to become pregnant then, had wanted to wait until later, or had not wanted to have any / any more children at all.
An additional category, whether the woman wanted to become sooner than she had, comes from a separate question from the survey. If the woman answered that she wanted the pregnancy "then", she was later prompted whether she would have answered that she wanted that pregnancy "sooner", or given the same answer ("then"). Women who said they would have changed their answer are coded in PGRECDESIRE as "Wanted pregnancy sooner".
This variable differs from FPLCHDESIRE in that FPLCHDESIRE asks about the woman's most recent live birth, whereas PGRECDESIRE asks about the woman's most recent pregnancy, regardless of the outcome.
