Description
GEOUGSH reports the region of Uganda where the respondent was located, with the region classification typically used by the Demographic and Health Surveys (DHS). GEOUGSH is spatially harmonized, meaning it takes into consideration changes in geographical boundaries between the 2014-2019 surveys that have 10 regions and the 2020 survey that has 15 regions. Users should use this variable if they are studying changes over time from 2014-2020.
Please see GEOUGDET, GEOUGGEN, and GEOUG for related variables that do not document boundary changes.
Comparability
Beginning in 2020, the geographic boundaries in the original data allowed for additional detail. GEOUGSH retains the same boundaries as previous samples, but the further detail is available in GEOUG.
