Description

CDPLAY indicates whether the household owns a cassette or CD player.

Users may also be interested in DVDPLAY, which indicates whether the household owns a DVD player, and DVDCD, which indicates whether the household owns a CD or DVD player.

Respondents were asked to report what assets the household owned in order to calculate a wealth index based on assets. This information can be found in the variables SCORE, WEALTHQ, and WEALTHT.

The question associated with this variable was included in the household questionnaire.

There are no comparability problems.

Comparability with IPUMS-DHS

CDPLAY in IPUMS-PMA is similar to the variable DVDVCD in IPUMS-DHS. Slight variation in question wording and universes between the two variables may affect comparability; see the Survey Text and Universe Tab of the IPUMS-DHS variable for more information.
